SUMMARY:Strides for Sunny 5K
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n \n\nRegistration for Live In-Person Event \n\nRegistration for Virtual Event \n  \nJoin us on Saturday September 4\, 2021 at TY Park for the inaugural Strides for Sunny 5K OR join us virtually and participate at the location of your choice anytime on September 4th.  The Strides for Sunny 5K honors Sunny LaValle who was tragically killed while living one of her loves\, cycling.  Sunny\, a loving wife\, mother\, daughter\, sister\, aunt and friend to so many\, was lawfully cycling in the bike lane on Bonaventure Blvd on Sunday May 23\, 2021 when she was struck from behind by a reckless driver.  The event proceeds will help start a foundation on behalf of Sunny.  We ask that you join us as we run/walk in honor of Sunny. \nOur theme for the Strides with Sunny 5K is rainbow tutu’s.  We want to honor Sunny with as many participants as possible wearing a rainbow tutu.  We are excited for the music\, entertainment\, and celebration the event will provide\, but we need your energy and support to make this the greatest honor to our friend.  Each participant will receive the follow event items:  personalized race bib with RFID timing chip\, event shirt\, finisher medal\, and personalized race completion certificate.  The 5K will be a chipped timed event with awards provided for top 3 overall\, masters\, and age groups.  The age groups are as follows:  Men’s/Women’s 1-8; 9-14; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75-79; 80+. \nDo you want to show your support of Sunny but would prefer a shortly distance?   We have you covered.  Following the 5K we will host the Strides for Sunny – 1 mile walk.  You will receive  bib\, finisher medal\, and event shirt and move at a pace you are comfortable.  Click the blue “Click to Register” button and then select “Strides for Sunny – 1 Mile Walk”. \n \n\nSchedule of Events \nThursday September 2\, 2021\nPre-Race Packet Pickup\n4:30pm to 6:30pm \nRunner’s Depot – Davie\n2233S University Drive\nDavie\, FL 33324 \nSaturday September 4\, 2021 \n6:15am – TY Park Gates Open \n6:30am – Race Day Registration and Packet Pickup Open \n6:45am – Music and entertainment begins \n7:10am – Announcements and National Anthem \n7:15am – Start of the Strides for Sunny 5K \n8:15am – Start of the Strides for Sunny – 1 Mile Walk \n8:30am – Strides for Sunny 5K Awards Ceremony \n \n\nSTRIDES FOR SUNNY 5K – Virtual Option \nWe are looking forward to the support of Sunny’s friends\, family\, and the South Florida community.  The event committee has decided to add a virtual option to the Strides for Sunny 5K.  You now have the option to participate in the inaugural event virtually.  The virtual platform allows anyone to show their support and participate\, without being exposed to the large group at the in-person event.  All virtual participants will receive the complete race packet\, which includes the personalized Strides for Sunny 5K race bib\, event shirt\, and finisher medal.  We have provided each virtual participant with an event app\, which will track your time and distance on September 4th\, allow you to view/submit pictures\, view results\, and more.  Please see the instructional guide below to downloading the event app.  To participate virtually\, please click the registration button above (be sure to select the Virtual Registration Button).  We look forward to seeing so many smiling faces on September 4th\, whether in-person or virtually. \n

DESCRIPTION:Join us September 18\, 2021 at North Collier Regional Park for the Run 3 for Joey D 5K.  The 5K\, which welcomes both runners and walkers\, will begin at 8:00am and guide you through one of the most scenic 5K routes in all of Florida.  The route will guide you through natures beauty and provide the most peaceful setting.  The 5K will be chipped timed and awards will be provided to the Top 3 Overall\, Masters\, Senior Masters\, and Age Groups.  Age Groups will be as follows:  MALE/FEMALE 1-8; 9-14; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34 35-59; 40-44; 45-49;  50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75-79; 80+. \n\nThe inaugural Run 3 for Joey D 5K is a fun run honoring the life of Joey DiPascale and the first event benefiting The Joey D Foundation. A few months ago\, Our family lost a brother and a son\, the community lost a teammate and friend\, and the world lost a young man who was passionate about nothing more than helping others. \nThe Joey D Foundation was started to honor his legacy and continue impacting the local community in all the ways that Joey would have done himself. The foundation is chasing after it’s first goal of fully funding an endowed scholarship at FSU that will be awarded annually to an underserved student from Collier County.
