SUMMARY:Mardi Gras in May 5K - Tampa
DESCRIPTION:  \nMardi Gras\, or Fat Tuesday\, refers to events of celebration.  Mardi Gras is French for “Fat Tuesday”\, reflecting the practice of the last night of eating rich\, fatty foods before the ritual Lenten sacrifices and fasting of the Lenten season.  Mardi Gras\, as a celebration of life\, nearly always involves the use of masks and costumes by its participants.  In New Orleans\, for example\, these often take the shape of fairies\, animals\, people from myths\, or various Medieval costumes\, as well as clowns and Indians.  However\, many costumes today are simply elaborate creations of colored feathers and capes. \nThe Mardi Gras in May 5K will practice many of the traditions with costumes\, food\, music\, and atmosphere.  We encourage everyone to “dress the part” and engage in the spirit of the event.  We will hand out neck beads\, mask\, and lots of fun.  We will host a costume contest following the completion of the 5K.   This promises to be a fun\, festive\, and entertaining event.  The Mardi Gras in May 5K is the next best thing to being in New Orleans.  Don’t miss out on this fun event.  The 5K will be a chipped timed event.  Awards will be provided to the Top 3 overall and in each age group. \n \nPRICE:\nJanuary 1\, 2021 – March 31\, 2021:  $30.00\nApril 1\, 2021 – April 30\, 2021:  $35.00\nMay 1\, 2021 – May 21\, 2021:  $39.00\nMay 22\, 2021:  $45.00 \nParticipants will receive a personalized race bib with RFID timing chip\, dri-fit shirt\, beautiful finisher medal\, and personalized race completion certificate. \n*first 250 registrants are guaranteed full race participants package (personalized race bib\, finisher medal\, dri-fit shirt\, and race completion certificate). \nPRE-RACE PACKET PICKUP\nFriday May 21\, 2021\n3:00pm to 6:00pm \nFit2Run Superstore (International Plaza)\n2223 N Westshore Blvd #1411\nTampa\, FL   33607 \nSCHEDULE OF EVENTS\nThursday May 20\, 2021 – Pre Race Packet Pickup – LOCATION & TIME TBD \nSATURDAY May 22\, 2021\nAl Lopez Park\n4810 N Himes Road\nTampa\, FL   33614 \n6:45am  – Al Lopez Park gates open\n7:00am – Mardi Gras themed music begins\nVendors open\n7:55am – Announcements and National Anthem\n8:00am – Start Mardi Gras in May 5K\n8:00am – LIME Food and drinks open for all participants\n9:15am – Mardi Gras in May 5K awards ceremony\n9:45am – Mardi Gras in May costume contest\n10:15am – Mardi Gras in May costume awards \n \n  \nFew organizations have as rich a history and legacy as the Early Childhood Council of Hillsborough County\, Inc. Formed as a grass roots organization in 1983 by a group of educators\, social workers\, parents and early childhood advocates\, the ECC has always been focused on prevention and early intervention efforts with an emphasis on assisting young children with special needs and their families\, because of the fundamental belief that “Every Child Counts”. \nHistorically\, the ECC has been instrumental in identifying service gaps\, conceptualizing creative solutions and developing partnerships and collaborative relationships to achieve its mission and vision. The Developmental Screening Program is a great example of addressing an issue through creative collaboration. Launched in 1986\, the program has screened over 30\,000 children\, and has been replicated in Leon and Jefferson Counties. ECC partners with over 30 different community agencies during monthly screenings. \nInclusion Support Services are designed to support early care providers in making accommodations to support children with behavioral and developmental challenges. The desired result of inclusive experiences for children with and without disabilities and their families include a sense of belonging and membership\, positive social relationships\, and development and learning to reach their full potential. \nThe Infant Mental Health Project seeks to advance our community’s understanding and awareness of young children’s mental health\, and stresses the significance of early attachments and relationships. Hillsborough County’s Early Childhood Court (ECC) addresses child welfare cases to minimize disruption and/or trauma for the children in care by working with the 13th Judicial Circuit and many committed community partners to bring about positive outcomes for the child and family

DESCRIPTION:Saturday May 15\, 2021\nQuiet Waters Park – Deerfield Beach FL\n  \nMardi Gras\, or Fat Tuesday\, refers to events of celebration. \n \n  \n \n  \nSCHEDULE OF EVENTS:\nThursday May 13\, 2021\nPre-Race Packet Pickup\n3:30pm to 6:00pm\nRunner’s Depot Coral Springs\n5679 Coral Ridge Drive\nCoral Springs\, FL  33076\n\n\nSaturday May 15\, 2021 \n6:30am – Quiet Waters Park gates open\n6:45am – Registration and Packet Pickup Open\nMusic Begins\n7:25am – Announcements and National Anthem\n7:30am – Start of the Mardi Gras in May 5K\n8:45am – Awards Ceremony\n9:15am – Mardi Gras in May 5K Costume Contest\n9:45am – Mardi Gras in May 5K Costume Awards

SUMMARY:Superhero 5K for Children's Mental Health Awareness presented by Superkids Run Club
DESCRIPTION:Superhero 5K\nfor Children’s Mental Health Awareness\npresented by \nSuperkids Run Club\n \nApril 18\, 2021\nVista View Park – Davie \nHelp us change the approach to Children’s Mental Health.  Approximately one out of every five children in America has a diagnosable mental health disorder.  Mental Health problems in young people are associated with outcomes such as suicide\, substance use\, inability to live independently\, justice involvement\, school dropout\, economic hardship and physical health problems. \nFar too many children and adolescents lack access to needed mental health and substance services.  Less than half of children with mental health problems get treatment\, services or support.  Only one in five get treatment from a mental health worker with special training to work with children. \nUntreated mental health needs among children and youth affect not only the young person and their family\, but also schools\, communities\, workplaces and the nation as a whole.  These costs are too high to leave the mental health needs of so many America’s young people un addressed.\n \nVista View Park\n4001 SW 142nd Ave\nDavie\, FL  33330 \nThe Superhero 5K is a chip timed event.  Awards will be provided to the top 3 overall and top 3 in each age group. \nSCHEDULE OF EVENTS \n6:30am – Vista View Park Open\n– Registration and packet pickup open \n7:00am – Vendors and entertainment open \n7:25am – Announcements and National Anthem \n7:30am – Superhero 5K start \n8:30am – Superhero 5K awards ceremony \n \n  \n \nSuperhero 5K for Children’s Mental Health Awareness – COVID PROTOCOLS \nOur goal is to host a fun\, competitive\, and exciting Superhero 5K and put together an event that will bring joy\, happiness\, and memories to so many. We will have a packet pickup table\, with plexiglass dividers\, available. We will not allow large lines at packet pickup\, to follow the social distancing guidelines\, so provide yourself with plenty of time in case the line is long and there is a long wait. \nRace:\n– We will implement a rolling start.  We will have 4-6 participants starting every 10-15 seconds.  We will line everyone in position (proper spacing for social distance start) for the rolling start.  Be ready to start at 7:30am\, as the rolling start will move quickly.\n– Please wear your mask until the start of your race. You may watch the awards from a location outside the awards ceremony and standing 6′ away from others. \nYOU ARE NOT PERMITTED TO ATTEND IF\n– You have a fever\n– You have any symptoms of illness\n– You currently have COVID symptoms or have had symptoms in the last 14 days\n– You have tested positive within the last 14 days\n– You have been exposed within 10 days and have not had two negative test since. Exposed is defined as being within 6 feet of a COVID-19 positive person or one who becomes positive\, for 15 minutes \nWe know these are unique and challenging times for everyone. SUMMARY:I Love the 80's 5K - Orlando

SUMMARY:3rd Annual Parkinson's Won't Stop Me 5K
DESCRIPTION:PARKINSON’S WON’T STOP ME 5K\nRESCHEDULED to 2021\nWE ARE EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THE NEW 2021 DATE:\nSATURDAY JANUARY 30\, 2021 – TY PARK (HOLLYWOOD)\n \nParkinson’s disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder that affects predominately dopamine-producing (“dopaminergic”) neurons in a specific area of the brain called substantia nigra. \nSymptoms generally develop slowly over years. The progression of symptoms is often a bit different from one person to another due to the diversity of the disease. People with PD may experience: \n\nTremor\, mainly at rest and described as pill rolling tremor in hands. Other forms of tremor are possible\nBradykinesia\nLimb rigidity\nGait and balance problems\n\nThe cause remains largely unknown. Although there is no cure\, treatment options vary and include medications and surgery. While Parkinson’s itself is not fatal\, disease complications can be serious. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) rated complications from PD as the 14th cause of death in the United States. \n\nThe first step to living well with Parkinson’s disease is to understand the disease and the progression: \n\nIt is possible to have a good to great quality of life with PD. Working with your doctor and following recommended therapies are essential in successfully treating symptoms by using dopaminergic medications. People with PD need this medication because they have low levels or are missing dopamine in the brain\, mainly due to impairment of neurons in the substantia nigra. \nIt is important to understand that people with PD first start experiencing symptoms later in the course of the disease because a significant amount of the substantia nigra neurons have already been lost or impaired. Lewy bodies (accumulation of abnormal alpha-synuclein) are found in substantia nigra neurons of PD patients. \nScientists are exploring ways to identify biomarkers for PD that can lead to earlier diagnosis and more tailored treatments to slow down the disease process. Currently\, all therapies used for PD improve symptoms without slowing or halting the disease progression. \nIn addition to movement-related (“motor”) symptoms\, Parkinson’s symptoms may be unrelated to movement (“non-motor”).People with PD are often more impacted by their non-motor symptoms than motor symptoms. Examples of non-motor symptoms include: apathy\, depression\, constipation\, sleep behavior disorders\, loss of sense of smell and cognitive impairment. \nIn idiopathic Parkinson’s disease\, progression tends to be slow and variable. Doctors often use the Hoehn and Yahr scale to gauge the progression of the disease over the years. The scale was originally implemented in 1967 and it included stages zero to five\, where zero is no signs of Parkinson’s and five is advanced PD. It was later changed to become the modified Hoehn and Yahr scale. \nSo many people in South Florida have been affected or know someone who has been affected by Parkinson’s Disease.  The 3rd Annual Parkinson’s Won’t Stop Me 5K – Honoring Miami-Dade Fire Fighter Paul Bersach will help the Parkinson’s Foundation raise money to help find a cure and help those affected.  Paul Bersach\, a former Miami-Dade Fire Fighter\, was affected by this unfortunate disease and this 5K will honor his name and help ensure other families do not go through what his family endured.  Paul dedicated so much of his life to helping others\, including 30 years of service to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.  Paul is blessed with a beautiful family\, starting with his wife Toby and their three children Stacey\, Andy\, and Cindy.  The family is focused on continuing his legacy of giving.  Proceeds from the event will go to the Parkinson’s Foundation in Paul’s honor.  Your support is humbling and will help all those who are fighting against Parkinson’s Disease\, which will be one step closer to a cure thanks to your support. \nRACE INFORMATION: \nTY Park\n3300 N. The 80’s introduced us to rap with the likes of Run DMC\, Beastie Boys\, Public Enemy\, 2-Live Crew\, Slick Rick and N.W.A.  The 80s were such a revolutionary time in the music industry and is still a major influence on music today. \nThere was so many great moments in the 80’s and would like to take you back to this amazing time at the Inaugural I LOVE THE 80’s 5K Run/Walk.  The day promises to be a trip down memory lane and an experience to the most unforgettable decade.  We will have the best 80’s music playing all day.  We ask that everyone dress in the best 80’s outfit (including your hair style).  We will award prizes for male and female best hair\, outfit and group coordination outfit.  Please be creative as you take a trip back to the good old days. \nWe encourage your to tell your friends and family about this fun day and encourage your to get a group together.  Sign up as a group and save 10% on all entries within your group.  We will have special prizes for largest group and best dressed group. \nRegister today to ensure your spot at our visit to the 80’s.\n \n \nCOURSE MAP \n  \nSCHEDULE OF EVENTS:\nPre-Race Packet Pickup\nThursday January 7\, 2021:  8:30am – 5:30pm\nOffice Evolution – Plantation\n261 N. Our mission is rescuing innocent dogs that have been mercilessly abandoned by their owners in the Florida Everglades and neighborhoods of Palm Beach\, Broward and Dade County. The on-going problem in the Everglades and streets of South Florida has reached epidemic proportions. These dogs also face a high risk of being hit by cars and suffering unimaginable injuries while left to die\, alone\, in excruciating pain. To date\, Everglades Angels Dog Rescue has rescued and rehabilitated more than 500 dogs. Our 100% volunteer-based organization generously donate their time to rescuing\, rehabilitating\, socializing and providing emotional care and support to each and every dog we rescue. The veterinarian we utilize provide thorough and complete medical care for all of our dogs. The ultimate goal is to adopt these dogs into the best home possible where they can live out their lives in a safe\, secure\, and loving environment. We are dedicated to creating innovative projects to raise awareness\, educate our youth and local residents to promote responsible dog ownership. We have organized over 200 fundraising events with the help of local businesses and the community to support our mission. Recently we have opened Treasures 4 Tails Thrift Shop where we resell donate items and all proceeds go directly to the care of the dogs\, the store is operated by volunteers only\, we do not have a payroll. Everglades Angels was also proudly featured on National Geographic Wild TV Show Pupparazzi spreading awareness about dog abandonment. In order for us to expand our mission and succeed\, we rely not only on social media\, fundraising events\, donations and sales of merchandise; we depend on the support of the community through awareness and a willingness to listen and understand that this is a serious and widespread problem that’s not going away soon. \n  \n     \nHere is your opportunity to get involved as an event sponsor.  CLICK HERE to see how you can get involved through our great sponsorship packages:
