The South Florida Summer Softball Invitational will host a competitive first responders slow pitch 64 team draw as well as a semi-competitve slow pitch 64 team draw.  Participants in the competitive first responders draw must represent a Fire, Police, EMS division with the state of Florida.  All teams a guaranteed a minimum of 2 games.  The tournament draws and game times will be released on Wednesday July 20, 2022.  All teams will play their first game on Saturday July 23, 2022.  Families are encouraged to bring their families to sunny South Florida and take advantage of our beautiful beaches and attractions.

Tournament Rules:

  • 2 game guarantees
  • Coin toss prior to the start will determine home and away
  • First game will begin at 8 am last game is scheduled to start at 6pm
  • Slow Pitch- Pitchers must put a 6-foot arc on their pitches
  • 12 inch softball
  • Bases 65 feet apart, pitcher’s platform 50 feet from home
  • Fence distance is 315 feet
  • ASA Certified sticker bats only
  • No stealing
  • Home Run rule: 3 max per game, each additional is an out
  • 55-minute time limit per game
  • 7 inning games. Weather may dictate, 5 innings or 4 ½ if the home team is winning will constitute a game.
  • 15 run rule will be in effect after 3 innings and 10 run rule after 5 innings.
  • No metal cleats
  • Teams of 12 are allowed. 11 can bat, 10 can field, 1 substitute
  • If game is tied after 7 innings or 55 minutes, extra innings will be implemented.  A runner will start on 2nd base with two outs, batter will start with full count (3-2).  Team with higher score at the completion of an inning will be determined the winner.

“Shorthanded Rule” – If a player must leave the game and there is not a substitute available, when it is that players turn to bat an out is declared.

Softball Fields

Field dimensions will be consistant on all fields at Brian Piccolo Park.  The left/right field foul poles at 315'.  Distance to first base is 65'.  We will utilize up to 6 total fields, with 3 fields designated for the competitive division and 3 fields designated for the semi-competitive division.  Field and game time assignments will be released on Wednesday July 20, 2022.  All teams will play their first game on Satruday July 23, 2022.
