Superhero 5K presented by Professionals United 4 Parkland – VIRTUAL EVENT

Professionals United 4 Parkland is excited to host the 2nd Annual Superhero 5K on Saturday October 23, 2021.   We pressed through the challenges of 2020 host the inaugural 5K as a virtual event.  Professionals United 4 Parkland and their event committee has decided in the best interest of safety, the 2021 Superhero 5K would also be hosted as a virtual event. The support from the South Florida community is amazing, and we know safety is the most important aspect of the 5K.  The virtual platform will allow you to show your support and get all the race goodies.

The Superhero 5K will provide each participant with an event app, that will track your time and distance, view/submit photos, view results, and much more.  The Superhero 5K will provide awards to both top 3 overall and top 3 in each age group.  The age groups are Men’s and Women’s 1-8; 9-14; 15-19; 20-24; 25-59; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75-79; and 80+.  We encourage all participants to dress in their favorite superhero costume during the virtual run and take pictures.

The Superhero 5K promises to be a fun, competitive, and energetic day for everyone.  This is a great event to form a team with your family, friends, or co-workers, to support a great cause and have alot of fun.  Create or Join a team during registration and save 10% off each entry.

 

Professionals United 4 Parkland was created to identify and meet the short and long-term needs related to mental health/wellbeing of the South Florida community in the aftermath of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas tragedy through evidence-based services including:  education for the general community and professionals, clinical training, clinical services,support for clinicians, and more.  We work alongside other local organizations and groups to ensure that we identify gaps in current services and that the needs of our community are being adequately addressed.  We are entirely non-political.

WHAT WE DO:
1.  Provide database of accessible, evidence-based providers
2. Facilitate the creation and promotion of trauma and grief clinical training
3. Assess mental health needs of the community
4. Provide support (consultation, supervision, therapy, support groups) for mental health professionals

Q:  When is the Superhero 5K presented by PU4P?
A:  Saturday October 23, 2021.

Q:  Where is the Superhero 5K being held?
A:  Virtually.  You have the ability to run/walk anywhere you wish on October 23, 2021.

Q:  What is the Superhero 5K?
A:  A fun, energetic, and festive 5K run/walk to provide financial support to Professionals United 4 Parkland.

Q:  What do I get for participating in the Superhero 5K?
A:  All participants will receive the following:  A personalized race bib with RFID timing chip, beautiful finisher medal, dri-fit event shirt, and personalized race completion certificate!

Q:  Is the Superhero 5K a chip timed 5K?
A:  The Superhero 5K will provide all participants with an event app to track your virtual 5K run/walk.

Q: Are there awards for the top finishers?
A:  Yes, we will award the Top 3 overall male and female, as well as the Top 3 in each age group.

Q:  Do I have to run the 5K?
A:  You have the option to run, walk, crawl, and just show up to provide your support.

Q:  Who is the event benefiting?
A:  Proceeds from the event will go to PU4P – Professionals United 4 Parkland, who identifies both short and long term needs related to mental health/wellbeing of the South Florida community in the aftermath of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas tragedy.

Q:  Is the Superhero 5K a family oriented event?
A:  Yes, the Superhero 5K is most definitely family friendly.  We encourage families to embrace the costume theme and get the entire family involved, with a chance to win great costume prizes.

Q:  How much does the Superhero 5K cost?
A:  Register between May 1 and August 15 and the cost is $30.00.
Register between August 16 and October 22 and the cost is $35.00
Register on event day (October 23) and the cost is $45.00

Q:  Is there a cap on the size of the event?
A:  The first 500 entries are guaranteed the complete race packet (bib, finisher medal, dri-fit shirt, and finisher certificate).
